The pencil/ink finishes are very good if looked at in isolation. I hate to say it though, but the inks wash out some of the fine shading in the pencils. I really like the pencils, and the pencils and inks side-by-side really show the loss of detail that is not evident when looking at the pencil/ink finishes alone. It is easy to be a "Monday Morning Quarterback" however, and I have no tips for fixing the shading issue, sorry.

Thanks! I just posted the full pencils as well for any who are interested in trying their hands at inking, coloring, or just seeing my pencils bigger. :)

Yeah, I've been thinking about that a lot lately. Of course not all of my penciling is really intended to give depth, since I expect that the level of shading I can do in pencil won't really come through in ink. A lot of the perceived depth comes from me just sometimes not pressing as hard with the pencil. :)

This is actually somewhat amazing to me, as I have never really been able to do what you are allowing all of us to do in seeing the finished pencils and inks side-by-side. I grew up seeing the amazing finished work of Jack Kirby, Neal Adams and other luminaries of the 1970s "Comic-Book World" and the work was never really available to view in this fashion unless you could sit at Jack Kirby’s elbow or watch Joe Sinnott lay the inks on top of Jack's work. I kind of like doing it, but it does lay bare your work process to a new kind of scrutiny, doesn't it? ;) I hope you don't mind, and as your work is really pretty good, it musn't be too painful, lol :)

Yeah it does, but that's the whole idea. It's all part of getting better (I hope). :)

Well, as I've said elsewhere in your gallery, I really like your work; you are both expert and professional. Accolades (even ones from some old geezer like me, lol) and financial remuneration for your work are evidence that you are surely "getting better."
